Malcolm Roberts
Chief Executive Officer
Malcolm joined AIP in November 2023, after almost five years as a Commissioner at the Productivity Commission. Most of his recent career has been spent in the energy sector, leading the peak bodies for oil and gas production, electricity and gas transmission and distribution, and electricity generation. In government, he has served as the chairman of the Queensland Competition Authority, as a policy adviser to Ministers and an adviser in the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
Peter Gniel
Deputy Chief Executive Officer
Peter joined AIP in late 2015 as General Manager Policy and was promoted to Deputy CEO in late 2023. He provides government affairs and policy advice on a range of issues including climate change, fuel pricing, environmental policy and renewable and alternative fuels. He is an appointed member to key Government fora including the Federal Government's National Fuels Council, Australian Jet Zero Council, ACCC Fuels Consultative Committee and the NSW Biofuels Expert Panel.
He has previously worked in senior executive roles with a number of industry associations including the Australian Petroleum Production & Exploration Association (APPEA), Plastics & Chemicals Industries Association (PACIA) and the Winemakers’ Federation of Australia (WFA). He has also worked in the Federal Government bureaucracy and in private enterprise in the IT sector.
Nicky Reading
Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Nicky has worked as a Company Secretary since 1997 and for AIP since 2003. Nicky qualified as a Company Secretary through Chartered Secretaries Australia (now the Governance Institute of Australia) and is a Fellow of both GIA and the (international) Chartered Governance Institute. Nicky extended her professional qualifications with an MBA from the University of New England in 2015 and was promoted to the combined role of CFO and Company Secretary at AIP in 2016.
